Rotobrush Coil Cleaning: The Fort Worth Owner’s Guide
We stock Rotobrush-compatible coil cleaning parts and install them across Fort Worth, typically for $140 to $260 installed depending on your unit’s series and coil condition. Most Rotobrush coil cleaning jobs are completed the same visit we diagnose the issue, since we keep the common sizes on the truck. Coil cleaning problems usually surface the same way every time: the brush spins but the coil won’t hold tension, or you hear a grinding noise and the feed stops advancing. If you’re noticing either symptom, the fix is usually straightforward and we can walk you through what to expect before we ever roll a truck.
We’re an independent service provider in Fort Worth, not affiliated with Rotobrush. That means we’re free to stock the parts that actually hold up in North Texas conditions, and we don’t have to toe a corporate line on what gets replaced versus rebuilt.
Which Rotobrush Models This Applies To
Rotobrush has shipped several coil configurations over the years, and the part that fails is rarely the coil itself. It’s almost always the feed mechanism that drives it. The coil assemblies on the aiR+ and Vision series use a geared feed block that wears differently than the older R2 and BRH models. If your unit has a serial number starting with “RB” followed by six digits, you’re dealing with the newer series and the good news is the coil is a drop-in swap on those. If the serial starts with “R2” or “BRH,” we often need to check the mounting collar because those older frames had a tendency to oval out after years of use in Fort Worth’s dry heat.
Here’s the compatibility gotcha most owners don’t know: the coil diameter is not the only measurement that matters. The feed pitch, which is the distance between coil loops, has to match the drive gear or the coil will bind after about fifteen feet of duct. We’ve seen owners order coils online based on diameter alone and end up with a part that jams halfway through a job. When you call us, we’ll ask for the serial number and have you measure the coil width with a tape measure. Two minutes on the phone saves a wasted afternoon.
OEM versus aftermarket for Rotobrush specifically: the OEM coils are fine but priced at a premium. We stock aftermarket equivalents for the common aiR+ and Vision series that are wound to the same pitch tolerance and actually hold up better in humid seasons. For the R2 and BRH series, we recommend OEM because the aftermarket supply for those older models is inconsistent on the feed pitch.

Signs Your Rotobrush Coil Cleaning Is Failing
- The coil won’t advance without manual help. You have to push the coil by hand to get it to feed. That’s the drive gear slipping, which usually means the gear teeth have worn down from years of tension against the coil. We replace the gear and coil together because a worn gear chews up a new coil fast.
- Grinding or chattering when the coil feeds. That sound is the coil binding against the feed block. It happens when debris from dirty ducts, and Fort Worth houses produce plenty, packs into the feed channel and scores the coil. If you keep running it, you’re scoring the block too.
- The coil comes out bent or kinked at the end. This is the telltale sign the coil has lost its temper. Once steel loses its spring, it won’t straighten in the duct and you’ll spend more time fighting the equipment than cleaning. There’s no repairing it. The fix is a new coil.
- Uneven cleaning in one side of the duct. If one side of the duct is noticeably cleaner than the other, the coil is probably deflecting. That means the coil has developed a memory from being stored coiled too long, or it’s been run through a tight bend too many times. It’s not dangerous, but it’s not doing the job either.
- The coil is rusted or has surface pitting. Fort Worth’s humidity swings mean coils stored in a garage or truck bed without protection will corrode. A rusted coil sheds flakes into the duct as it spins, which is the opposite of cleaning. We replace those on sight.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included
In Fort Worth, Rotobrush coil cleaning replacement runs $140 to $260 installed. The lower end covers a coil-only swap on the newer aiR+ or Vision series with no drive gear damage. The higher end covers coil plus feed gear replacement on older R2 or BRH units, or any job where we need to replace the mounting collar. Parts are a flat price, labor is a flat price, and we write the total down before we touch the unit. No per-vent pricing, no add-ons once the work starts.
Every coil replacement we install is covered by the 365-Day Done Right Promise. If that coil fails within a year, we come back and replace it at no charge, including a second visit. That’s not a verbal promise. It’s written on the invoice. Roy Castellanos started this company on the idea that a handshake means something, but a written guarantee means more. We’ve been serving Fort Worth since 2004, and the coil jobs we do today are the same ones we’ll stand behind next spring.
DIY or Call Us?
You can safely check a few things yourself: pull the coil out, lay it flat, and look for kinks, rust, or pitch inconsistency. If the coil looks clean and straight, your problem is probably the drive gear, and that’s not a driveway job. Replacing a Rotobrush feed gear requires opening the drive housing, and if the gear is pressed on, you can crack the housing trying to pry it with hand tools. We’ve fixed enough of those to know it’s a $400 mistake that starts as a $40 part.
If you’re the kind of Fort Worth homeowner who’d rather not spend a Saturday fighting a coil that won’t feed, call us at (682) 255-2572. We’ll bring the right part, swap it, and test it on a duct run before we leave. If it’s simpler than you thought, we’ll tell you. Roy’s rule is the same on every job: clean ducts don’t advertise themselves, but dirty ones will.
FAQs
In Fort Worth, expect two to four years from an aftermarket coil with regular commercial use, and four to six years from an OEM coil used on residential jobs. The two factors that shorten that lifespan fastest are storage conditions, specifically humidity exposure that causes rust, and running the coil through tight duct bends that fatigue the steel. Coils stored in a climate-controlled van or shop consistently outlast coils kept in a North Texas garage.
No, a bent, kinked, or rusted coil cannot be repaired. Once the steel loses its temper or the surface has pitted, the coil will not behave predictably in a duct. Any attempt to straighten it by hand just creates weak points that will bend again under torque. Replacement is the only fix and it’s usually a fifteen minute job with the right part on hand. Call (682) 255-2572 and we’ll confirm the part over the phone.
Most Rotobrush coil replacements take under an hour from the time we arrive to the time we test the unit on a duct run. If the drive gear also needs replacement, figure ninety minutes. We don’t schedule multiple jobs during a coil service window, so you’re not waiting around while we rush to the next stop.
We stock the common aiR+ and Vision series coils plus aftermarket equivalents on the truck, along with the matching feed gears for most units we see in Fort Worth. Older R2 and BRH coils are stocked at our shop and can usually be pulled same day. We also stock parts for Lennox, Trane, and Carrier units, so if you’re running a mixed equipment setup, one call covers it.
